TEHRAN -- The Book City Institute plans to hold a review session for “We and Paris”, Iranian author Amir-Saeid Elahi’s work on Iranians’ first contacts with Paris.

Critics Tahmures Sajedi and Gholamreza Alibabai will be on the panel and Elahi will also attend the session, which will be held on July 21 at 4:30 p.m., the institute announced in a press release on Tuesday.

“Exactly, three centuries have passed from 1715, when Iran’s first ambassador from the Safavid court was sent to Paris under Louis XIV,” the institute wrote in the press release.

“Since then, the city of Paris has seen many Iranians from every walk of life for example: diplomats, tourists, military missioners, migrants, intellectuals, statesmen and political activists, and has attracted them to its culture and groundbreaking revolutions,” it added.

“Over the past few decades, many [Iranian] political figures, intellectuals and statesmen chose to live in Paris or returned home from there or fled to the city so that France turned into an area for the contemporary history of Iran and political clashes among the Iranian émigrés living in the country,” it wrote.

“We and Paris” was released by Abadbum Publications in April.
